Performance & Participation | Evacuee Practice

Evacuee Practice was initially performed by local artists at Gemeente Groningen in November 2025, which serves as a shelter for floods, winter storms, earthquakes and power cuts that may be caused by environmental consequences. This artistic performance coincided with the distribution of public leaflets 'Prepare for an emergency’. The new phase will further involve local people, from children to elderly people, which also helps prevent social isolation in neighbourhoods. These activities can demonstrate that evacuation is not limited to ‘refugees’ in wars, but is a pressing issue for everyone globally, which can happen even today or tomorrow. Furthermore, it is essential to prepare and practice for such situations both physically and mentally. Expected in summer 2026 and onwards. Curated by Sayoko Matsutani, Pine Valley Contemporary
